How to Style Cropped Pants : High-water Chic

October 24, 2017

"You're flooding", a phrase you heard so much as a child attending middle school in the south. Flooding, a term defined by Urban Dictionary as " when your jean legs are above your ankles, or higher than they should be". The amazing part about fashion and especially menswear is how much what's considered acceptable changes. Thankfully in 2017 guys are allowed to push the envelope, and step outside that "normal" box.

A trend that has definitely pushed its way to the fore-front of menswear is cropped pants. For awhile simply cuffing your pant leg was the hottest trend of the century. Now, fashion brands have taken the look a step further by just making the length of the pants shorter all together. Cropped pants are extremely versatile. You can wear a loose cropped pant, with socks, or go for a more polished look and wear slim cropped slacks with no socks. The key to pulling off this style is choosing the right length crop that works with your body type.

I own quite a few pairs of cropped denim, so you want to see another look with a different way to rock this trend check this one out. In this look, I styled these vintage cut, cropped jeans from ZARA. These jeans are now one of my favorite pair I own. They fit slightly higher on the waist, and of course are cropped at the bottom. This light blue color is perfect to transition from summer to fall. These jeans also have very light distressing that adds an edgy touch. This length of crop is perfect for me because it stops high enough to show off any shoe. Also I'm 6"1" and have really long legs so the shorter length of the pants don't distort my proportions. If you've been following my blog for a while you know i live for a vintage themed look. I styled my cropped denim with this navy and red, varsity style sweater from ASOS. This sweater has an over-sized fit, which balances perfectly with the silhouette of the denim. Try to style your cropped denim with over-sized or longer tops to avoid looking like all your clothes are shrunken. For shoes I styled this look with these Chelsea boots from Steve Madden. I would wear these boots everyday if I could, the shape of them are amazing. The height of these boots are perfect to keep my little chicken ankles warm, and also help make the pants season appropriate. Lastly, to top the look off I wore my favorite sunglasses from Aldo.

I hope you guys will feel a so much more comfortable styling cropped denim! Thanks for reading.

Stay Blessed
